Nurturing Care for Early Childhood Development is Key for the full potential development of every child and requires joined efforts for it to be realized. This is the reason Smart Start Siaya is bringing everyone on board to champion for this.
SSS brought a group of Religious Leaders drawn all over the county in a two days sensitization on Nurturing Care for ECD and their roles in it. This was done in three groups of Ugenya & Ugunja, Gem & Alego Usonga and Bondo & Rarieda to avoid a huge number and to ensure COVID-19 protocols are adhered to. They were expected to step up their roles in implementing NC for ECD in their day to day activities at home, community and places of worship.
From the discussions, it was evident that the Religious Leaders go through a lot in their line of work hence bringing them on board is a milestone in ensuring the well nurtured children.
These participants confirmed Nurturing Care to be Biblical and that there is nothing so unique/new, its caregivers who have dropped their roles and obligations hence this campaign has come timely to rescue the next generation!
The clergy promised to integrate the NC best practices in their interactions and work. They will not only be giving spiritual messages but the NCfECD messages in their forums.
They welcomed the message and fully willing to help steer the agenda forward.
Since they interact with so many families, caregivers and different personalities, the clergy vowed to integrate NC in all this and give not only spiritual nourishment but also this noble NCfECD gospel.
The high teen pregnancy is alarming and was bad news for them too and requested to have more strict,fair and timely justice when dealing with defilement Cases.
Smart Start Siaya-Nyathi en Mwandu will be working closely work with these religious leaders to support them push the agenda forward. The Siaya First lady, H.E Rosella Rasanga, who is the Patron for the Nurturing Care for ECD Campaign in her Speech stated that bringing the clergymen on board is a great success considering their high level of interactions that will yield the best integration of NC to the community & places of worship, she urged the Participants to start thinking of children; and in all forums champion for the integration of the NCfECD. H.E implored them to “try this at home” so that Siaya becomes great again!
